I went to pick up a bag on the floor and almost didn't see Leo inside. He's so cute!

Weight Watchers or My Own Watchers?

Time to loose a lot more weight. I NEED to do this, not only for me, but for my family. I have never been this heavy in my life, I've also never been this stationary. My digestive system is hating me, my hemorrhoids hate me, heart burn is becoming almost a daily thing again, and diahrea is very frequent. I can't believe I was 20 lbs lighter earlier this year, this has to stop... But how?

I think my big problem is my love for food and not for exercise. I love and make amazing food. So maybe the answer is portions portions portions, follow that up with lower fat, fewer calories, and fewer sweets. I love rich food and deserts and I just can't do this anymore, I can't hardly stand to look at myself in the mirror. My whole life growing up I was large and my parents were large, and now they're kicking my butt especially my mom, they're lookig great and running quarter and half marathons... I am so heavy right now that it hurts to exercise. I'm young. I so have to power through this... Do I need a program, surgery? I don't think so. I'm fiddling with weight watchers but not sure $5 a week is going to help me count calories or exercise more. I have to do this above all for myself and overcome the foodie curse. I think I can still enjoy food, good food, just less of it, and more of the healthier veggies and grains, than hearty meats and cheese. I know I can do this, and if I don't do this today I'm just asking for trouble, your health is nothing to play with.

So my goal, I have to loose at least 60 lbs if not 80. Short term: I have till vacation -about 3 weeks- to loose at least 6 lbs and exercise at least 3 days a week. If I can't do that on my own, then we're trying weight watchers.

S&P and DOW Down

This last week has hit the US Economy hard. First, congress has proven they can't work together, even when the American people desperately need it. Investors then showed that they lost faith in the system with Dow dropping over 600 points last week. followed by S&P downgrading the US credit for the first time ever. Of course all this recent chaos is just speeding up the downward spiral we were already on. After the S&P downgraded over the weekend, the stocks plummeted again Monday. My question is what do they think is going to happen? Did congress really think waiting till the last minute wouldn't have lasting consequences?

When is any of this going to change? We keep seeing economic depression during times of war, and we've been in a state of war for a decade. So what's the answer to our economic problems? Is it ending war or boosting the economy during it? I'm not an expert, but I see problems with just doing one or the other. I think we need compromise in so many directions, and right now our elected government has proven it can't do that. Those elected officials want to be re-elected by their constituents next term so they're going far left or far right, but right now we need compromise. We need both sides, all directions, big and small companies to take a chance. We need businesses to feel like they can take chances again.

So how do we create piece of mind given the state of things? I think the answer is at the lowest level. It's in the hand that feeds the economy, everyone of us hard working people that live here. Every person that spends money. Businesses rely on their customers and employees, and employees rely on having a job to earn money to spend as a customer. Earned money runs the economy, but now with so many not earning their paycheck the economy is suffering. Unemployment is sucking the life out of our nation. Obviously we need to create jobs and customers. The problem is that businesses want/need customers first before they can create jobs. The other way jobs can be created is through Venture Capitol, which comes from investors.

Now we start to see the pickle. This is not something government alone can fix. Investors need to take chances again, thus we can't hit them with more taxes just because they have more money. It is their money that can dig us out of this hole. The government can't put their limited resources into boosting businesses, instead they can put it into spender's pockets by keeping taxes lower and continuing unemployment benefits. They can have more access to funds to put into the economy if spending for the wars we are in is limited, and our involvement is continuously lowered. But I think that has to be den gradually and wisely.

Bottom line is we are really in a pickle, so we need give and take in every direction. Our government's biggest role right now should be to restore confidence. Restore piece of mind for our investors, and piece of mind for our customers. Make us willing to take chances again, and our nation may stand a chance.

An attempt to blog

So in the past I've always started a blog and I quickly forget about it. Today is another attempt to make something mildly amusing enough for people to actually read...

Computers, Games, and Cats pretty much describe the hobbies in my life.

Computers:
Recently I've been dabbling with this idea The Best Top Laptops! Yeah it sounds cheesy I know, but will you believe that millions of people search that exact term each month. So we thought why not make a website to help the less informed. You can find a list of what we think are the best Top Ten Laptops, or read Laptop Reviews from yours truly. Well it's nearly finished so you should head on over and check it out!

Games:
What's better than StarCraft 2? I mean really?  Well, a month ago I would have said League of Legends, but I decided to actually drop $60 on a game, and I really like SC2. The campaign rocks, the multi-player maps you can play with your friends rock, and the very diverse and varying custom maps absolutely make SC2 the best PC game out there. Yes the initial cost is pricey, but the hours of entertainment are priceless.

Cats:
So yes we have 2 cats. Kiki is 1 year old, and a Leo is just 5 months. We like to call them Moo Mews, but really they're just adorable. Why are they a hobby? Well, you'd have to see how cute Leo is to really appreciate that. Kittens are so much cuter, cleaner, and less needy than dogs. I have to say I'm a fan, even though they can shred toilet paper all over the house. They're kind of like small children with the mischievous habits they develop, but they always want to cuddle up and trick you into loving them so much you just can't get mad at them at the end of the day.
